This challenging multi-day tour takes you through some of the most breathtaking and remote regions of the Greater Caucasus. Along the way, you’ll discover rich cultural heritage, ancient villages, and UNESCO World Heritage sites, all set against the backdrop of towering peaks like Kazbek and Ushba.

With daily rides through alpine valleys, high mountain passes, and lush forests, combined with authentic overnight stays in tents and local guesthouses, this tour offers a perfect balance of thrilling cycling, nature, and genuine Georgian hospitality.

Part 1 – Greater Caucasus Crossing

Day 1 – Arrival in Georgia
Direct flight from Frankfurt to Tbilisi.

Day 2 – Tbilisi Warm-Up Ride & Transfer to Gudauri
Early morning arrival in Tbilisi. After a break, we take a warm-up ride through the city: from the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum past Lake Kus and up to the Tbilisi local mountain, the “Punikuliori” plateau. Enjoy sweeping views over the city before a downhill ride through the botanical garden to the Narikala Fortress. Afternoon transfer by vehicle to Gudauri.
Distance: 30 km – ↑ 600 m / ↓ 600 m

Day 3 – Into the Chevi Region
We begin with a drive to the Cross Pass (2,379 m) and then descend into the Chevi region. The ride continues through Sno Valley toward Dschuta, where we see the towering Kazbek (5,047 m) for the first time. Overnight in tents at 2,200 m.
Distance: 45 km – ↑ 820 m / ↓ 600 m

Day 4 – From Dschuta to Chevsureti
From the Dschuta Valley, we ascend (partly carrying bikes) over the Sazelis Gele Pass (3,056 m), then descend to the Roschka Plateau and into the Aragvi Valley. Overnight near Gudani village in tents.
Distance: 33 km – ↑ 1,100 m / ↓ 1,610 m

Day 5 – Descent to Schatili
A tough climb leads us to Datvis Jvari Pass (2,676 m), followed by a scenic descent into the Arguni Valley. We reach the fortress village of Schatili. Optional short detour to Mutso. Overnight in Schatili.
Distance: 30 km – ↑ 976 m / ↓ 1,270 m

Day 6 – Schatili to Barisacho
We ride through one of Georgia’s most remote regions. After crossing the pass, a long descent brings us to the Aragvi Valley. Overnight in tents near Barisacho.
Distance: 40 km – ↑ 1,270 m / ↓ 1,406 m

Day 7 – Descent to Tianeti
We descend toward the Ananuri reservoir, then climb again toward Tianeti. Scenic views as we ride through Kartlis Grad and down into the Iori Valley. Overnight in Tianeti.
Distance: 60 km – ↑ 580 m / ↓ 400 m

Day 8 – Tianeti to Mzcheta and Night Train to Zugdidi
We ride past Sioni Reservoir and over the Sabaduras Pass to Georgia’s ancient capital, Mzcheta, visiting its UNESCO-listed cathedral. After dinner, we board the night train to Zugdidi.
Distance: 61 km – ↑ 300 m / ↓ 900 m
Optional rest day available (with hotel upgrade and alternative transfer).

Part 2 – Upper Svaneti & Western Georgia

Day 9 – Into the Heart of Svaneti: Maseri
From Zugdidi we transfer to Dzhvari, then bike along the Betscho Valley to Maseri at the foot of Ushba. Overnight in Maseri.
Distance: 80 km – ↑ 1,100 m

Day 10 – Ushba Waterfalls & Mestia
A ride through the picturesque Dolra Valley to the Ushba Waterfalls, then return to Maseri and continue to Mestia, the regional capital. Overnight in a private guesthouse.
Distance: 37 km – ↑ 500 m / ↓ 700 m

Day 11 – To Ushguli, the Highest Village in Europe
We climb over the Mulachi Pass to the UNESCO-protected village of Ushguli, nestled beneath the Central Caucasus. Overnight in Ushguli.
Distance: 70 km – ↑ 800 m / ↓ 200 m

Day 12 – Long Descent to Lentechi
From Ushguli, we ascend to the Sagaro Pass (2,623 m), then descend through untouched valleys into the Zescho Valley. Overnight in a private home in Lentechi.
Distance: 80 km – ↑ 423 m / ↓ 1,823 m

Day 13 – To Kutaisi
Morning transfer to Kutaisi. Visit the UNESCO-listed Gelati Monastery before continuing on to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 14 – David Garedzi Cave Monasteries
We travel southeast to the semi-desert of David Garedzi. After a vehicle transfer to Rustavi, we ride through the Ialguya Steppe to visit ancient monasteries carved into sandstone cliffs. Return to Tbilisi for a farewell evening. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 15 – Departure
Transfer to the airport and return flight.
