Embark on a thrilling high-altitude adventure to Tetnuldi, the majestic Svanetian Queen of the Caucasus. Towering above the enchanting Svaneti region, she has long been a lover of Ushba, standing as a symbol of power, beauty, and challenge. This summer expedition takes you across alpine meadows, glacial ridges, and rugged slopes, offering breathtaking views of Ushba, Shkhara, and the surrounding peaks. Designed for adventurous mountaineers, this journey is your chance to test your skills, embrace the mountains, and stand atop one of Georgia’s most iconic summits.
8-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Georgia
Arrive in Tbilisi or Kutaisi.
Overnight in Tbilisi or Kutaisi.
Day 2: Transfer to Mestia
Meet your guide at the airport. Private transfer to Mestia in Svaneti.
(Tbilisi–Mestia: ~8 hrs / Kutaisi–Mestia: ~5 hrs)
Overnight in Mestia hotel.
Day 3: Acclimatization Ascent: Mount Lujira (3,470 m)
Morning transfer to Tetnuldi Ski Resort. Depending on conditions, drive up to 3,100 m or start lower if acclimatization is needed. The climb includes rocky terrain with easy scrambling (max UIAA 3+). After traversing the summit ridge, descend back to Mestia.
Overnight in Mestia hotel.
Day 4: Ascent to Tetnuldi Base Camp (3,700 m)
Return by vehicle to Tetnuldi Ski Resort (3,000 m). Trek to Kasebi Glacier and continue on snow to the campsite at 3,700 m. Set up tents.
Overnight in tents.
Day 5: Summit Day: Mount Tetnuldi (4,858 m)
Alpine start for the ascent via Tetnuldi’s southwest ridge. Mixed terrain with easy rock sections, followed by a sharp, steep snow–ice ridge (UIAA 2). From the summit, enjoy sweeping views of the Greater Caucasus. Descend to base camp via the ascent route.
Overnight in tents.
Day 6: Weather Reserve Day
Spare day in case of bad weather on the planned summit day. If unused, return early to Mestia.
Overnight in tents or Mestia hotel.
Day 7: Return to Mestia & Cultural Exploration
Descend to Mestia. Free time or optional visits to the Svaneti National Museum and medieval defense towers.
Overnight in Mestia hotel.
Day 8: Departure
Private transfer from Mestia to Tbilisi or Kutaisi Airport. Departure flight.
