Easternmost Five-Thousander of the Caucasus

Experience a thrilling ski tour in the Greater Caucasus, where untracked powder, perfect firn, and dramatic peaks await. This adventure includes climbs of lesser-known three- and four-thousanders, culminating in an ascent of Mount Kazbek (5047 m)—the only five-thousander in the Eastern Caucasus.

This tour combines technical ski mountaineeringacclimatisation tours, and the chance to summit
Mount Kazbek (5054 m) on skis.

Starting in Gudauri, the program includes several day tours for preparation and altitude adaptation, followed by a hut-to-hut approach to the mountain and a full summit push. Depending on your timeframe, you can choose between a 12-day or 8-day version. All logistics, guiding, accommodation, and transfers are included.
The program is suitable for experienced ski tourers with prior mountaineering skills, including use of 
crampons and ice axe.

12-Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival
Travel to Tbilisi. We’re happy to assist with flight bookings.

Day 2 – Into the Caucasus
Arrival in Tbilisi (usually early morning).
Transfer to Gudauri (approx. 3 hrs / 125 km).
Equipment check, warm-up Gudauri resort ski tour and safety briefing.
Overnight in Gudauri (2000 m).

Day 3 – Lomisa Ridge Tour
Short transfer to Mleta (1450 m).
Ski tour to Lomisa Monastery (2200 m), and optionally the ridge high point (2450 m).
↑↓ approx. 1150 m
Overnight in Gudauri.

Day 4 – Mount Deda Ena
Transfer to Jvari Pass (2360 m).
Ski tour to the summit of Mount Deda Ena (3285 m).
↑↓ approx. 925 m
Overnight in Gudauri.

Day 5 – Sadzele & Bidara
Morning lift to 2700 m, then ski tour to Sadzele (3307 m).
Descent into Kobi valley, ascent to Kobi Pass (3001 m), traverse to Mt. Bidara, and descent to the Jvari road for pickup.
Overnight in Gudauri

Day 6 – Deka Hut Ascent
Transfer to Gergeti Trinity Church (2200 m).
Ski tour to Deka Hut (3000 m).
Overnight in the hut.

Day 7 – Meteo Hut & Acclimatisation
Ski tour to Bethlemi Hut (3665 m).
Leave gear and ascend for acclimatisation toward Ortsveri summit (approx. 4200 m).
Return to Bethlemi Hut.

Day 8 – Kazbek Summit Day
Alpine start.
Ascend via the classic glacier route to plateau (4400 m) and saddle (4900 m).
Final 40–45° ascent to Mount Kazbek summit (5054 m).
Descent to Stepantsminda.
Transfer to Gudauri.
Overnight in Gudauri

Day 9 – Reserve or Rest Day
Spare day for a second summit attempt if needed, or enjoy an easier local tour or well-earned rest.
Overnight in Gudauri or Betlemi Hut

Day 10 – Back to the City
Transfer to Tbilisi or Kutaisi, depending on your flight plan.
Overnight in Tbilisi or Kutaisi

Day 11 – City Tour & Supra
Morning city sightseeing tour (Tbilisi or Kutaisi).
Free time in the afternoon.
Evening: enjoy a traditional Georgian supra (feast).

Day 12 – Departure
Transfer to the airport and departure.
